PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Dr Crichton has worked in Australia as well as the United Kingdom. Prior to entering Anaesthetic specialty training he worked in Intensive Care at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He completed his training with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2012. Since then he has worked as a staff specialist in Anaesthesia at Flinders Medical Centre. He continues his role there as a Senior Consultant Anaesthetist. Dr Crichton joined Advanced Anaesthetics Adelaide (formerly Southern Group of Anaesthetic Specialists) in 2014. He now enjoys a wide and varied anaesthetic practice across many hospitals shared between his public and private appointments.

Dr Crichton’s belief is in the provision of optimal anaesthetic techniques customised and tailored for his individual patient and their procedure. He works closely with many of his surgeons and proceduralists to achieve this goal. Dr Crichton is committed to ongoing professional development and participates in the ANZCA CPD program. He has frequent involvement in conferences, workshops, symposiums and special interest groups which address evidence-based practice as well as innovations in anaesthetic management, techniques and patient safety.

Dr Crichton recognises the increasing complexity of modern anaesthesia and the importance of addressing individual patient concerns. With patient safety, comfort and understanding in mind, Dr Crichton offers preoperative consultations and assessments to address aspects of your medical history, planned procedures, potential optimisations and preparations, and plans for post-operative pain management.
